.....farm stories with a difference.
This series of books for children is based on the lives of real, live animals.

"
The Naughty Seven"

Book One tells the story of the day PigPig, the 700 pound sow, learned she was to have visitors. PigPig learns an important lesson on the dangers of eavesdropping.  While this story has some imaginary additions, i.e. PigPig's nightmare, the characteristics of the animals and the arrival of 'the Naughty Seven' are based on true events.

THE AIM OF THIS SERIES OF BOOKS IS TO HELP CHILDREN  MATURE INTO COMPASSIONATE PET OWNERS.

These stories are told as the animals may have experienced them.  We believe that if children are encouraged to put themselves in their pet's place, they will develop more understanding of how it would feel to be a dog or cat.  This can only lead to realizing that a life lived on the end of a chain is not acceptable.  A pet kept with no bonding friendship established with its owner is not a happy pet.

During author visits to schools, children meet at least one of the 'Grovehill Gang' animals, and are encouraged to write stories about their own pets.

As one young boy wrote "I used to think of dogs in one way, and now I think of them in a whole new way."

A family pet should be just that - a member of the family.

"Jake's Lunch"

Book Two in the series stars the dogs - Springer Spaniels, an Australian Shepherd cross and a little yellow lab. Jake, the Aussie, had an incredible appetite as a puppy. The day this story takes place is one that won't easily be forgotten on Grovehill Farm!

"Cattle Drive!"

Book Three in the series features the three Grovehill Farm horses and the cows taking the leading roles. It sounded like an easy task at the time...just herd a couple of cattle up the gravel road to the farm. Well, horses are not as brave as you might think and the job did not quite go according to plan.

"Repo's Story"

Book Four will be available in the spring of 2005.  While the first three books have been funny and light-hearted, 'Repo's Story' will be more serious.  It tells the story of one little puppy who needed to be repossessed after finding himself in a less-than-desirable home. This book stresses again, the need for a companionable, loving relationship between animals and the people in their lives.

The stories are not sequential so children can enjoy reading about these storybook heroes in any order.
